History

The Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute was established in 2001 at the National University (NUOL), Dongdok Campus on the basis of cooperation between the NUOL and JICA. In May 2010, it was upgraded from the Lao-Japan Center to the Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute (LJI) which continued to carry out human resource development activities to help develop the nation. With the support of both Lao-Japanese  people, the Lao-Japanese Human Resource Development Institute is an important organization that plays a key role in connecting relations through cultural exchange, human resource development in business administration and Japanese language learning.

Mission

The Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute with the abbreviation "LJI" has an office located in Dongdok Campus, It is an institution that has the same status as a faculty in the organization and under macro level  supervision of the National University of Laos (NUOL). It plays a key role for the Rector of the NUOL in comprehensive administrative management in cooperation with the Japanese side and cooperation with various parties inside and outside the NUOL, to develop human resources inside and outside the NUOL  by organizing teaching and learning  in order to contribute to capacity building for academics staffs , researchers  in the fields of administration and Japanese language, organize  research on various topics including conducting Japanese studies and responding to academic services to society. To promote cultural exchange and academic exchange between the University and various educational institutions of Japan as well as cultural exchange between the people of Laos and the people of Japan as a whole and between ASEAN member countries. At the same time, the Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute also works to promote business cooperation between Japanese and Lao companies.

Curriculum and Instruction

Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute opens teaching – learning  for Master's course in business administration, Japanese language course and short-term training course.

Master's degree in business administration 

The Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute together with the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, under the support of JICA, has opened a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis on the balance between the theory of business administration and the practical knowledge necessary for economic development based on market mechanisms in the midst of regional economic integration and in the world, especially integration into the ASEAN Economic Community.

Those who graduate from this course will have sufficient knowledge and skills to conduct business successfully in an open economy within Laos.

Applicant Criteria:

  • Must have completed a bachelor's degree in any field
  • Have at least 2 years of work experience
  • Have knowledge of English that can read, write, listen and communicate at a good  level
  • Applicants with experience and basic knowledge of business administration or economics  will be given special consideration
  • Those who have completed a new bachelor's degree in business administration or economics with an average score of ... o r above may be considered

Study period:

  • The entire course takes 2 years (1 year 6 months of theory study, 6 months to write a thesis) - School day: Monday-Sunday (evening)

Japanese Language Course

The Japanese Language Course was created to meet the demands of the Lao society who want to study Japanese, so the course started in 2012 with the support of the Japan Foundation. The standard course is 2 hours a day and in 1 semester is equal to 4.5 months or 18 weeks. Beginner level class (B1-B3), completion of this level is  3 years. In order to improve the Japanese language, we recommend intermediate level classes (In1-In3) for 1 year.

In addition, there are many other opportunities for those who study well and have good grades, such as continuing their studies in Japan, going on study tours, and the opportunity to receive free  scholarships. In addition, the Japanese language course also offers summer vacations and organizes Japanese language training for organizations and companies.

  • Organizing teaching by a team of experienced Lao and Japanese people, all teachers have received training from both domestic and foreign countries.

In order to develop knowledge and skills in business management for executives, managers and general personnel of companies, state enterprises, government organizations, Lao-Japan institutes regularly hold short-term trainings. The training period is 2 weeks or less, which includes many topics such as:
