Overview
School for Gift and Ethnic Students is a school that depends on the Office of the Rector of NUOL, abbreviated as “SGS" located in Dongdok campus. This school was established with a grant from the Government of the Republic of Vietnam worth 47 billion Dong. It has been officially opened since February 26, 2007. This school has an area of approximately 40,000 square meters and includes 7 buildings: the principal's building, a classroom building, a laboratory building, a library, a club, a cafeteria and two dormitory buildings. It is located at Dongdok campus, there are 4 surrounding villages (Sphang Meik Village, Dong Dok Village, Chang Koo Village and Kham Hung Village) and various institutions. The north side is adjacent to the Vietnamese Language Section, the south side is adjacent to Kham Hung Village and Chang Kuo Village, the east side is adjacent to Sathid Elementary-Secondary School, and the west side is next to the National University.
This school started teaching and learning since the end of the 2006-2007 school year. Having taken the selection test for 1st and 4th grade students, there are a total of 40 students, including 20 1st grade students and 20 4th grade students; In the 2007-2008 school year, 24 from 1st grade and 24 from 4th grade students were selected and this school year the Ministry of Education and Sports has sent ethnic students, from rural-remote areas, from each province across the country according to the agreement on the appointment of the committee responsible for the selection of ethnic students No. 2313/SS.SMSP/08 dated September 03, 2008. There are 45 ethnic students preparing for university, 32 female; In the 2008-2009 school year, there are 436 students, 219 female, including 170 ethnic students and 73 female. These students receive comprehensive support from the government throughout the school year, including tuition, school supplies, school uniforms, and health care.
Roles and Duties
School for Gift and Ethnic Students have a role in teaching, strengthening and developing high school students with special abilities and preparing ethnic students to attend higher education institutions and universities according to the policies of the party and the government.
- Create students to be disciplined, have revolutionary moral qualities, be diligent, active in academic research, have mental strength and be able to take university entrance exams both domestically and abroad.
- Develop talent and tribal schools to prepare for universities to be a clean, green, peaceful area, with basic structure, with modern teaching-learning media equipment to serve for teaching-learning .

Curriculum and Instruction
The school conducted teaching and learning according to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Sports. Students who will enter this school must take a selection exam from the National University under the supervision of the National University . Acceptance of students in the past is: 1st grade, take the standardized test, 70% of the elementary course at the intermediate level and 30% at the difficult level - 5th grade take the self-administered high school course 70% in the medium level and 30% in the difficult level.

Cooperation
Internal Cooperation
The school has been in contact with the Educational Department in the capital city and Saithani district in participating in the monthly meeting , participating in writing a test and mark the test of the final grade and outstanding students, and the certificate of the 7th grade students in each school year. There has been cooperation with 4 surrounding schools such as: Don Noun High School, Tanmyxay High School, Vieng Keo High School, Sivilai High School. In addition, school also organizes the training in various subjects as well as leading teachers and students to study tours and exchange activities with surrounding schools.
Foreign Cooperation
The School of Gifted and Ethnic Students has cooperated with the Republic of Vietnam with experts coming to teach in the school from 2007-2021 and has sent students to study in various fields in 2014 until now.
The school of Gifted and Ethnic Students are welcome and exchanged cooperation relations with surrounding countries such as participating in international science projects in Thailand, going on a study tour to exchange teaching work and receiving sponsorship of 24 sets of computers from Thailand, 48 sets from the Republic of Vietnam.
