On February 29, 2024, the Faculty of Architecture (FAR), the National University of Laos (NUOL) organized a workshop to exchange technical knowledge on environmental design and urban planning with the participation of Mr. Visith Singhalad Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, National University of Laos and Prof. Dr. Akira KISHIMOTO head of the Department of Architecture and Environmental Design, Tama Art University, Japan with department heads, staff, teachers and students from two universities. All together there were 25 people in attendance.
The technical exchange program of the two universities began in 2017 and every year organizes exchange programs for a period of 1-2 weeks in various urban areas in Laos. These programs allow participating students to exchange knowledge and learn the application from theory to practice and learn from each other about the environment and lifestyle of Lao people. They analyze and find ways to plan and design housing, protect the environment in daily life, understanding city planning to suit the lifestyle of people in each area. For this year, the exchange program was organized under the theme: "Study the lifestyle of Lao people and the application of design to match the times" which collected information at the village of Hatsuan, Thoulakom District, Vientiane Province, Anu Vong Park, Sihorm Center Point and temples in the area along Mekhong from February 22-28. After that, the information was compiled and divided into groups to correct and improve the environment in each place to present to the teacher. At the conclusion of the program, certificates were given to the students who participated in this exchange.
