NUOL is the first comprehensive or full-fledged university in the history of Lao PDR, establishing on November, 5th 1996, in accordance with the Prime Ministry's No. 50/PM, date June, 9th 1995. NUOL was established by amalgamation of the existing higher education institutions which w then operated under different ministries.
NUOL has already developed a great number of collaborative activities in the field of international cooperation, partnership and exchange programmes. It is thus now in relation with a number of higher learning institutions worldwide. The NUOL has signed 155 MOUs and agreements with universities, institutions, academic associations, networks, organizations and INGOs from 29 countries in the world. The MOU based agreements signed cover more core areas of academic and non-academic collaboration and cooperation.
This section gives information about scholarship opportunities funded by NUOL and other organisations. Faculty members and students can pursuit national as well as international degrees, training and much more. NUOL supports impoverished and orphans students from remote areas to seek opportunity to study at the National University until graduation, by providing supports in many ways.
